Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from a typical session?
The 60-75 minute initial session will include a lot of information-gathering and getting to know one another. You will tell me about your goals and we will formulate a plan together. Our follow up sessions will be either 50-55 minutes or 25-30 minutes, based on appropriateness. In our nutrition therapy follow-up sessions, we will do work to analyze your values, challenge unhelpful beliefs, shed diet culture messaging, troubleshoot eating concerns, and more! I may also incorporate yoga as a modality via yoga philosophy and yoga techniques/postures. This can be done in our nutrition session and/or assigned to you outside of session. In a yoga session, I may guide you through a 1-on-1 class or teach you specific postures in-depth. I will always ask and prioritize how you would like to use our time together.
What if I don’t like yoga?
Not a problem! We do not have to include it as part of our work together. You are always welcome to take what you need and leave what you don’t. No suffering required. Just let me know :)
Do you take insurance?
I do! I am in-network with Blue Shield of California. This includes some Blue Cross Blue Shield plans from out-of-state. This does not include Anthem Blue Cross of California. Being in-network does not guarantee coverage but I can check that for you.
Don’t have Blue Shield or BCBS? I am happy to provide you with a superbill for nutrition counseling services. You can submit the superbill to your insurance. Some insurance plans offer reimbursement. Every plan is different so you will have to inquire with your insurance company. I can guide you on what to ask.
Who do you treat?
My practice is weight-inclusive, LGBTQIA+ welcoming and affirming, and trauma-informed. All adults over 18 are welcome here :)
What does “trauma-informed” mean?
Super important question! Trauma-informed means I am informed on the nervous system and aware of how trauma may impact an individual. This information then impacts how we do work together. I will do my best to provide a supportive environment for your system to find safety. I will also help you be aware of your nervous system in relation to food, body, and movement. This is NOT trauma therapy or a substitute for any kind of mental health therapy. I usually recommend clients also see a therapist while we are working together.
Are you accepting new clients?
Yes, I am! Contact me to book a free consultation!
Where are you located?
I see clients all over California via telehealth. I offer in-person restaurant outings, exposures, and grocery shopping in and around South Bay LA. Live out-of-state? Contact me and I will let you know if we can work together depending on your state’s guidelines.
What are your qualifications?
I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and a Registered Yoga Teacher. I hold a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Nutrition. I completed a certificate of graduate study in eating disorders. I have years of experience working in eating disorder treatment (inpatient, residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient). I underwent a 200-hour yoga teacher training. I completed a course on trauma-informed dietetic care and a course on trauma-informed yoga. And I have lived experience as I am in long-term recovery :)
